Some definitions are very specific and narrow. One such definition for spiritual enlightenment is the complete dissolution of one’s identity as a separate self with no trace of the egoic mind remaining. endless-satsang.com describes that this definition sets the bar very high and means that very few people qualify as enlightened. What is spiritual practice?
Soul provides you knowledge. Keeping liaison with your soul will help you gather spiritual knowledge that will also help you to get spiritually enlightened. But it depends on spiritual practices. A spiritual practice is the regular or full-time performance of actions and activities those are undertaken for the purpose of inducing spiritual experiences and cultivating spiritual development. The Greek word for devoted “proskartereo” comes from the words “pros” meaning towards and “karteros” meaning strong, suggesting an intensity and persistence in what we are doing. These are practices which God wants us to give our full attention to because they are important in our walk with Him. The apostles’ teachings indicate those practices as spiritual: while practicing fellowship, prayer, worship, service (benevolence), you must have intensity and persistence in your doings. It indicates total absorption in yourself or in your soul. In other words “complete dissolution of your identity as a separate self”.
Difference between spirituality and religion:
Your mind may generate a question – what are differences between spirituality and religion? Before understanding the difference between religion and spirituality, we must first define the two terms. Religion is defined as “belief in God to be worshipped, usually expressed in conduct and ritual.” Spirituality is defined as “the quality or fact of being spiritual, non-physical.” In other words, religion is a set of beliefs and rituals that claim to get a person in a right relationship with God, and spirituality is a focus on spiritual things and the spiritual world instead of physical/earthly things.
